“The Ascent” blog is the corporate blog site for Carlos Casanova, the founder of K2 Solutions Group, Inc. (http://www.k2sg.com) and co-author of “The CMDB Imperative” (http://www.cmdbimperative.com). Posts are made to the blog on roughly a monthly basis addressing different topics about ITIL/ITSM and the Configuration Management System (CMS) which is the successor to the Configuration Management Database (CMDB).

Carlos Casanova is the President and Founder of K2 Solutions Group, Inc. and the co-author of “The CMDB Imperative: How to realize the dream and avoid the nightmares”. K2 Solutions Group, Inc. is a Service Management enablement firm specializing in the transformation of data into actionable information by leveraging the implementation and efficient operation of Configuration Management Systems (CMS). Mr. Casanova is also a committee member and contributor to the itSMF USA Newsletter and the Treasurer for the itSMF New England Local Interest Group.

Prior to K2 Solutions, he was a Sr. Enterprise Architect with MetLife, Inc. where he was the visionary and manager for the first CMDB deployment and subsequently helped design its second generation, enterprise-wide ITSM platform. He has been a speaker at major ITIL conferences on Configuration Management and CMDB, has several ITIL certifications and is well known and respected by ITIL leaders.

Mr. Casanova’s career spans electronic engineering hardware design, military contracting, software architecture, management consulting, business process modeling, account management, entrepreneurial startups and technology architectures. In addition, his professional experience in IT Risk Management, Business Continuity and IT Security has provided him with a broad foundation and perspective that enables him to maintain a constant client/end user focus with integrity and objective reasoning at the core of all his designs.
